Building a Residential Leasehold Practice
It has been estimated by the Government that there are more than 2.5 million leaseholders living in leasehold flats or houses. There is a potentially huge demand for specialist legal advice on such issues as the tenant’s right of first refusal, enfranchisement rights, procedures and valuation and costs issues, how flat leaseholders can exercise the right to extend their leases. Advice is also needed on the landlord’s procedures in consulting on service charges, service charge and ground rent notices, other aspects of leasehold management such as the Right to Manage and the role of the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal. This one-day course examines all of these issues in detail covering both the statutory law and the case and tribunal decisions. Case studies are used throughout the course.
James Driscoll has very extensive experience in advising on residential leasehold issues. He has written extensively on leasehold issues and is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars on the subject for solicitors, surveyors, managing agents, housing managers and other housing and property professionals. He has made a close study of the leasehold measures in the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002.
