Commonhold: How to do it
This course provides a thorough account of the new law on commonhold (Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002, Part I). It examines how commonhold are set up, the drafting of the commonhold documentation, how developer’s rights can be safeguarded during the period of the development, the rights of commonhold unit owners, the role of the commonhold association, how commonholds are managed and how a commonhold can be brought to an end. It also examines how existing leasehold and freehold developments can convert to commonhold.
James Driscoll is a member of the Department for Constitutional Affairs Working Group on Commonhold and has written widely on the subject. He is the co-author of a new work on Commonhold that will be published by the Law Society in May 2005. James Driscoll has also speaks at conferences on this subject and has advised on new commonhold developments.
