Background

___Professor James Driscoll is a solicitor, an author and a Lawyer Chair of the Residential Property Tribunal. For 20 years he was a consultant solicitor with Trowers & Hamlins specialising in housing law. He has practised law since 1975. James Driscoll is an ADR accredited mediator.

A prolific author of books and articles, he is the Consultant Editor to Butterworths Residential Landlord and Tenant Handbook (5th ed, 2010 with a 6th edition in preparation), to Halsbury’s Laws (vol 56 ‘Housing’, 5th edition 2011) and several other books and loose-leaf works. James has contributed to ‘Enfranchisement Explained’ which was published by the RICS in May 2010. He is currently working on the landlord and tenant volumes in Halsbury’s Laws (to be published in 2012).

He has also held several academic positions in England and the USA. He is currently a Visiting Professor at the University of Essex and he is Emeritus Professor of Property Law at London South Bank University.
